April 2025 Newsletter

  • May 11
  • 3 min read

This month’s newsletter is a little shorter than usual, as I have been taking some paternity leave following the birth of our beautiful baby girl. My family and I are overjoyed, and I want to thank everyone for your kind messages of support — it has meant the world to us.

Although I have been away from Westminster for a short time, my constituency office has remained fully open, supporting hundreds of constituents across Pembrokeshire.

I am looking forward to getting properly stuck back into work over the next few weeks, with a packed diary of events, surgeries, and meetings across the constituency.

Newsletter Delivered Across Pembrokeshire

Earlier this month, my printed newsletter was delivered to every household across the constituency. Thank you to everyone who has already been in touch after reading it — it’s so important that you know how to contact me and how I can help.

Looking Ahead to May

VE Day Commemorations

Across Pembrokeshire, there will be a number of events taking place to commemorate Victory in Europe (VE) Day. I’ll be attending local services and parades to pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed so much for our freedom. I’ll also be sharing information soon about events happening near you — from memorial services to community gatherings — so that we can all take part in remembering this important moment in our shared history.

Upcoming Surgeries – Have Your Say!

I’ll be restarting in-person advice surgeries in May. If you would like me to visit your village, town, or community space, please do get in touch. Surgery dates and booking details will be published very soon. As always, appointments are available to discuss any issues — whether it’s healthcare, housing, education, or community concerns. If you would like a appointment in my constituency office in Haverfordwest, please contact my office via email or telephone.

Health Board Meetings – Fighting for Better Healthcare

I will be continuing my work to hold Hywel Dda University Health Board to account. Following earlier meetings on GP access and dentistry, I’m continuing to push for:

  • A clearer plan to address gaps in NHS dental provision.

  • Improvements to GP surgery appointment systems.

  • Better communication between the Health Board and local residents.

I have been engaging constructively with officials at the Heath Board over the last several months, and the Chief Executive Professor Phil Kloer has acknowledged that change is needed to improve service delivery. I will be meeting again with Mr Kloer next month for a progress report on the issues I have raised.  I will report back following this meeting to let you know what progress has been made – and the areas in which further pressure may be required.   I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again for taking the time to contact me and share your experiences of local health care. I want to assure you that I am doing everything that I can, and I am determined to see real improvement for our community.

Milford Haven and Floating Offshore Wind

Following the fantastic announcement this month that Milford Haven has been shortlisted as a key port for the deployment of floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea, I will continue to work with local partners, and colleagues in government, to ensure that Pembrokeshire benefits fully from this opportunity.  Here in Pembrokeshire, we have the skills, the resources, and the talent to be a world leader in this technology. It has the potential to bring thousands of good, green jobs to our area, unlock major investment, and strengthen our energy security for generations to come. In order to make this ambition a reality, I will be focusing on:

  • Support for investment in port infrastructure.

  • Support for local skills and training.

  • Ensuring that the economic benefits are felt by local people and businesses.

I’ll be pushing for action to turn these ambitions into real outcomes for Pembrokeshire.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and engagement. If you need assistance with anything — from healthcare to local services — please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me or my team.

Wishing you all a peaceful and enjoyable start to the summer months.
