July 2023 Newsletter

Welcome back to my monthly newsletter!

The rain may be coming down, but our support is only going up…

This month, I’ve been knocking on doors all over Pembrokeshire, from Milford Haven, to Neyland, to Haverfordwest, to Cleddau, voters all over our soon-to-be constituency are telling me that it’s time for change, that we cannot go on as we are, and that it’s time for a Labour government.

With every month that passes, our campaign team continues to grow. Thanks to our dedicated and hard-working volunteers, we are able to speak to more and more voters every week. These conversations are building the foundation of our general election campaign, giving us the strong head start we need to defeat the Tories in Mid & South Pembrokeshire.

If you want to get involved, there will be a role for you! We welcome anyone willing to support our campaign however they can, so please do get in touch.

At the Royal Welsh...

Just this week I had the privilege of attending the Royal Welsh, one of the most exciting agricultural events and, of course, one of the biggest events in the Welsh calendar! The Royal Welsh is a shining example of our agricultural industries in Wales, and I was delighted to speak to so many from our rural communities and businesses.

A huge thanks to Food Sense Wales/ Synnwyr Bwyd Cymru for inviting me to join their panel to discuss how we can confront the challenges we face across our food system, and work with public bodies, communities, food producers and other businesses to achieve necessary change. It was an interesting and lively discussion, with very insightful questions from the audience, too!

Reflecting on the by-elections...

With 3 important by-elections last week, and different results in each one, I’ve been reflecting on how far our campaign has come over the last few months. The result in Selby and Ainsty was fantastic – one of our best by-election results for over 25 years. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of countless volunteers, we were able to overturn a 20,000 strong Tory majority. Alongside this result, though, was a loss we hadn’t quite expected in Uxbridge. Although we're ahead in polls, we can’t take a Labour victory for granted, and I will continue to work hard for every Labour vote. Our campaign has been, and continues to grow every week. However, with the summer holidays in swing, and dark nights around the corner, we’re going to need your help even more as the months go by. If you can volunteer to help us win Mid & South Pembrokeshire, please do.

In a rather intense round of 'Where's Henry?'... Can you spot me in this photo?

Onto August...

August is already shaping up to be a great month. We’re going to make the most out of the long, (hopefully!) sunny days and canvass as much as we can. For those taking some time away with friends and family, I hope you get some rest and relaxation and hope to see you soon, fresh and ready to win a Labour victory. We’ve also got some great social events in the diary. So, one way or another, I’m hoping I’ll see you soon!

You can keep up to date and help share what I’m up to throughout the month by following me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Kind regards,

Henry Tufnell

Parliamentary Candidate for Mid & South Pembrokeshire
